Ben & Jerry’s Flavor of the Week: That’s My Jam

I have a new mission in life: to try one new flavor of Ben & Jerry’s each week until I run out of flavors to try.  Which will ideally be never.  I’m not doing this to boost my resume so that I can qualify to be a Ben & Jerry’s flavor guru and work in an office with curvy walls, slides and puppies and get three free pints of ice cream per day when I’m not traveling the country on “trend treks” going to local restaurants with the sole purpose of ordering every dessert on the menu.  No, that’s not why at all.  I’m doing this because life is too short not to eat ice cream.

The mission was launched on Wednesday when I went to the corner store to buy stuff to make a salad, peered into the freezer that is conveniently located exactly where you stand to check out, and decided that really, we don’t eat nearly enough ice cream.  So I picked up a pint of That’s My Jam, one of the new core flavors, and was on my way.

photo 2 photo 4I scooped us each an impressively reasonable amount of ice cream, proving for the first time ever that it is indeed possible to get four servings our of a pint of Ben & Jerry’s.  I made sure that we each got a representative sample of the chocolate ice cream, raspberry chocolate chunk ice cream and the raspberry jam core.  The first thing I noticed was just how wonderful plain old chocolate ice cream is.  It’s been a long time since I’ve had high quality chocolate ice cream that wasn’t low-fat and had nothing mixed into it, and really it’s lovely!  The raspberry chocolate chunk is very similar to Cherry Garcia, without the cherries of course.  Overall, the flavors go very nicely together and are complimented well by the raspberry jam core.  Although personally, I don’t think it would hurt if one side were peanut butter ice cream! 😉

Mutually agreed upon verdict: 3.5//5 Stars
