Monday Morning Meeting: Memorial Day Edition!

Happy Memorial Day from the ATL!  Yes, travel is my excuse for not having written any of the bajillion posts I have, just waiting to be shared with you.  And today’s stories come primary in picture book form, because I have a run to go on and a pool to get to!

We got into Atlanta on Thursday, so we’d have some time to spend with the family before Hunter & Jessica’s big day.  Of course we’ve been hitting up all the usual haunts, catching the tail end of the Sweet Water Brewery before heading to Mellow Mushroom for some pizza.  We couldn’t resist trying the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, because… well, it’s buffalo chicken pizza!  But believe it or not, adding bacon and ranch does not make buffalo chicken pizza better.  Although Courtney devoured it.

Friday the pre-wedding adventures kicked off.  Luckily, this time around I was only responsible for the fun ones, like getting an awesome mani/pedi and having lunch with the bride.  It’s a tough life.  Afterwards we headed to Maggiano’s for a great big family style rehearsal dinner.

The wedding was at Tree’s Atlanta, a non-profit dedicated to planting and conserving trees and green space around the city.  So of course the first thing the bride and groom did was plant a tree!

We are no longer the only of our siblings in the old married folks club!

I rocked an orange polka dot dress, with Court in a matching bow tie, from Etsy of course.  That’s what happens when you’re old and married.  YOU MATCH.

Sunday, we joined my parents at the Flying Biscuit, my all time favorite brunch place in college.  It used to be a fabulous hippy dippy joint with just a couple of locations around Atlanta.  Then they went corporate, and honestly, the reports are true.  It just aint the same.  But I’m a sentimental food critic, so I keep going back.

I got the fried green tomato benedict, because last time we were there I promised I would.   It looks pretty stellar, but it wasn’t really all that great.  But then again, I think I like fried green tomatoes in theory more than practice.   I still enjoyed the biscuits and the oatmeal pancakes, so I went ahead and filled up on those.

Afterwards, we headed to Piedmont Park to check out the awesome new dog park (shhhh!  don’t tell our furry children that not only did we leave them at home, but went to an awesome dog park without them!)  Then we lay in the sun and enjoyed the Atlanta Jazz Fest.  I’ve missed Piedmont Park.

We still have a couple of “must-dos” to check of the list (WILLY’S!!! For a baby sized burrito!  Not meaning sized for a baby.  Meaning the size of a baby).   No wonder Atlanta always leaves me needing a diet and a detox!

Sweat Log:
Being on the road means that I’ve been forced to get back into running!  And it’s not flat roads around here, let me tell you.  I’ve been going up to the loop at Collin’s Hill High School, one of the first places Courtney took me yearsss ago when we were training for my first 10k.  I am actually incredibly sore from going from not running at all to running straight hills!
