Renewing my Running Vows

Last year at this time, I was disappointed to be running only a half marathon.  I had signed up and trained for a full, but an injury decided that wasn’t meant to be.  Not only was I running multiple half marathons, I PR’d not once but twice last spring, shaving 7 minutes and 40 seconds off my previous time.

My running isn’t up to par, but man, check out my style!

And my dance moves improving, thanks to this little girl who taught me the Irish jig!

Okay, fast forward to this year.  Not only am I not running the Rock ‘n Roll this morning (or any half marathons this spring), but I think the Nike’s Women’s Half may have been the last time I ran double digits.   Although a few months ago, I made a list of races to run this Spring that included multiple ten milers and a few half marathons, all I have actually run is a very slow 8k last weekend (but at least I got to wear a tutu!).  Not only am I disappointed not to be running the half today, I’m getting a bit concerned about my ability to run the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in three weeks!

It’s been a long winter for D.C. (and we may get more snow on Monday!) but there’s no time left for excuses.  It’s time to start running!  This time I will share my list with you, in hopes that having it out there will encourage me to actually sign up for some races… and maybe  you will even want to run some of these with me?!

April 6: Cherry Blossom 10 Miler 10 (Registered)
April 4th-26th: Crystal City 5k Series
This year at some point: A Triathlon

We did the lawyers have heart race 2 years ago… the course is lovely!

I’ve never done that race, because it’s usually my birthday weekend! I remember the day we got engaged we did a run on the mall and ran into all the racers!
