Tuesday Morning Marathon Meet-Up: Week 14

I shifted my training schedule around a good bit this week since I spent the weekend up in New York for Alice’s bridal shower and knew I’d have Monday off to run.  I definitely overdid it with the cross training, knowing it would be a lighter week, and my overall mileage suffered for it.   My biggest problem, however, is my foot.  I imagine it’s probably related to the pains I complained of last week, except it’s now completely debilitating.  I’m hoping it’s my old shoes, which I wore again this week, nervous to do a long run in my newer ones.  But I’m really not sure how I’m going to be able to run if I can barely walk.  Courtney is also still down for the count, having only tried to run once last week and only making it a mile.  A pathetic pair of marathoners we’re shaping up to be!

On a more cheery note, how great are three day weekends?  I woke up Monday morning with the familiar guilt I get for wasting a day when I stay in bed past 9:00.  Then I thought, “what do I really need to accomplish today?  Why must I get out of bed at 8:30?”  Realizing that the answer was “very little” I rolled over and went back to sleep.  And very little I accomplished indeed.  The highlights?  An eleven mile run, watching five episodes of Downton Abbey, which gets me right up to the episode that aired last night (and is tragically not available on my free streaming website!), and whipping up a pretty  wicked cajun corn chowder, for which I’ll share the recipe soon.

Injuries, aches or pains:  Serious foot pain starting around mile nine.  By the time I got just past mile 10, I could no longer run on it.  I walked for a while, but every time I started running again I could only make it 25-30 feet and it would get worse.  I could barely walk home the last 1/2 mile and my heel and center of my foot still hurts badly when I walk.  Really unsure what’s up.
Post-run treat: N/A
